Verdan inks deal for global expansion

Swiss company Verdan has announced its partnership with market expansion services group DKSH to distribute its raw material, potassium alum, worldwide.

The natural potassium alum supplier has seen its crystal deodorant declared effective in 24 hours by the Dermscan Group via clinical tests, and is now looking to expand globally.

“The new partnership for distribution will allow Verdan to expand its supply network of natural potassium alum to companies around the globe,” said Verdan founder Francis Verdan.

Furthermore, the first class service and support provided by DKSH proves critical in meeting global demand for an increasing natural product market,” he continued.

The DKSH Personal Care and Cosmetics team stated it believes the new strategic partnership displays a bright future, and will look to distribute the Kalunite potassium alum in new territories and help grow Verdan’s business in new markets.

Ecocert approved

Kalunite was recently validated and approved by Ecocert to be used as a raw material in the formulation of cosmetics certified according to the Natural and Organic Ecocert standards.

With the importance of independent natural certification rising, we feel that our approved natural odor prevention ingredient provides us with a competitive advantage not offered by manufacturers of synthetic potassium alum,” Verdan told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.

Kalunite’s Ecocert approval signifies that the powder is traceable to its natural source, free from all synthetics and therefore permitted in Ecocert certified products.

It also confirms Kalunite’s exemption from registration for REACH, the European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use, which only registers natural minerals and ores if they have been chemically modified.

According to the company, beyond its use in crystal deodorants, the astringent properties of potassium alum stone means it acts as a skin firming and toning agent, and is also effective in relieving razor burn.
