Aptar Beauty + Home designs for Dior and adds to Eden range

Packaging company Aptar Beauty + Home has designed the perfume cap for Dior’s new Poison fragrance and added two jars to its Eden dispensing range, which were showcased at this year’s Beyond Beauty on 12-15 September 2010.

Aptar created the cap for the latest addition to Dior’s Poison fragrance line, Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle, in partnership with MBF Plastiques.

“The main technical challenge was to deliver the pump and the cap already assembled so it is ready to click on to the bottle as a single part, as well as respecting the original design and achieving the quality of finish that Dior demanded,” marketing and innovation manager, Patrick Bousquel ,told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.

The amethyst-coloured cap is made from Surlyn and has more distinct contours than the original design of the Poison range. The injection and cooling process was followed by a finishing process, the company said.

The anodized gold actuator is engraved with the ‘CD’ Dior symbol and a VP4 Seal Tight pump was used to complete the design, upon which the four other fragrances in the range will be based in the short term, according to Aptar.

Two new additions to Eden range

As well as its creation for the Dior Poison fragrance packaging, Aptar has also added two new compact jars in 50 and 100ml formats to its Eden dispensing range which comprises five different jars in total.

According to the company, the compact jars are intended for use with facial skin care products and replicate the comfort of using an ordinary jar, but with the addition of an airless pump dispenser, greater hygiene and protection benefits are offered.

The jars have an off-centre actuator to provide a very gentle actuation force, which according to Bousquel results in an easier, more comfortable dispensing action.

“The Eden compact jar is the only airless plastic jar that is 100 percent recyclable and complies with Eco Emballage certification,” he said.
