Avon Lady becomes millionaire

A 31 year old woman has become the first Avon lady to become a millionaire thorugh the company's sales scheme. Debbie Davis, from Sunderland, England, produced a turnover of £1.4 million and recruited 8.000 representatives.

The direct sales company employs 6.2 million people worldwide and its cosmetics branch accounts for 72 per cent of net sales.

Davis quickly established herself by becoming a sales leader within a week. She even recruited her partner to work in her team as a representative. Six years on, they have built up one of the largest teams in the UK, earning £9.3 million for the business.

When starting with Avon, representatives pay a £15 fee, which is deducted from their first two orders. For every £100 of product ordered, they receive a 20 per cent discount off the brochure selling price, rising to 25 per cent for orders more than £40. Employees generate their earnings from this discount.
