Coty to take over Roberto Cavalli fragrance license

Beauty company Coty is to take over the fragrance license of Italian fashion brand Roberto Cavalli from July 2011.

Isabelle Guéguen, global pr director for Coty Prestige, told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com that Italy-based fragrance manufacturer and marketer ICR-ITF currently holds the license, which is due to expire next July.

The agreement concerns the creation, development and distribution of the Roberto Cavalli and Just Cavalli fragrances, which will be handled by the Coty Prestige division. Financial details were not disclosed

Strengthening Coty’s global footprint

The partnership is expected to boost the international profile of both parties involved, helping to increase the global presence and consumer recognition of the Roberto Cavalli fragrances, as well as the visibility of Coty.

“This partnership supports the growing success of the Coty Prestige portfolio and Coty’s focus on international growth by furthering success in key international markets and strengthening Coty’s global footprint,” said Guéguen.

Roberto Cavalli, President of the eponymous Group, said: “I have personally appreciated the quality and the professionalism of Coty in developing and marketing very prestigious and high quality fragrances and I am sure that, together, we will be able to create some new and fantastic fragrances,” he said.

New fragrance launch set for 2012

According to Coty, the first launch of new fragrances under the new license is set for 2012.

Guéguen said that plans for a new Cavalli fragrance are currently in development, the details of which will be announced closer to the time.

The new fragrance will be widely distributed globally, she said, and Coty will continue the global distribution of existing Cavalli fragrances when the agreement comes into effect.

Coty Prestige fragrances include those from Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld and are sold in prestige and ultra-prestige stores, the company said.
