Luxe Pack Monaco debuts sustainability award

Luxe Pack Monaco is launching a sustainability award for environmentally-friendly packaging showcased in its Luxe Pack in Green exhibition space.

Packaging eligible for the Luxe Pack in Green Award should incorporate one or more sustainable development criteria as defined by a charter, according to the event organizers.

Judging the entries will be a panel of four jury members from the sustainable development sector, including Michel Fontaine from the French Packing Council and Alexandre Capelli from LVMH.

The trophy, which has been designed by design agency Alnoor Design, will be awarded on the first day of the event, which kicks off on Wednesday 20 October.

Luxe Pack in Green

Last year’s event saw new products and applications compliant with environmental standards exhibited in this space and arranged according to the material used.

A spokesperson for Luxe Pack Monaco said that as exhibitors are still signing up for this year’s event, it is not yet known how the Luxe Pack in Green exhibition space will be organised.

Focus on sustainability

Sustainability will continue to be a hot topic at this year’s event, and a workshop held on 20 October will offer practical information and guidance to attendees about the new European legislation on environmental labeling.

Representatives from FEBEA, environment agency ADEME and plastic packaging firms association ELIPSO will join the European Commission in charge of the case to help navigate the changes.

A roundtable event the same day will discuss whether the luxury packaging sector is leading an ‘eco-citizen’ approach, focusing on issues such as corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.

The 2010 edition of Luxe Pack Monaco will take place 20-22 October in the Grimaldi Forum and will feature over 330 exhibitors including Alcan Packaging Beauty, Maesa and OekaBeauty.
