The personal care division of specialty chemicals distributor Azelis presented its own range of natural-based emulsifiers at last month’s HCPI congress in Turkey.

BlanovaMuls is a family of emulsifiers that have been created from a single component (glyceryl stearate citrate), with each product built on the previous one.

For example, BlanovaMuls GMSC is composed of glyceryl stearate citrate, and BlanovaMuls Eco 77 is composed of glyceryl stearate citrate and glyceryl stearate.

All types of emulsions can be developed

According to Azelis, this means formulators can develop all types of emulsions from the one range.

“The production of green oil and water emulsions, including sprayable emulsions is possible for a wide range personal care applications,” an Azelis spokesperson told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.

Additional benefits of the range include the ability to adjust skin feel of a formulation from light to rich and the creation of emulsions that are highly stable, the company said. Furthermore, it is claimed that minimal product administration is involved, and the use of concentrates translates into a reduction in energy costs and production times.

Emulsifier range

The properties of glyceryl stearate citrate enable BlanovaMuls GMSC to emulsify high amounts of oil due to its molecular structure, and it is particularly suitable for the production of sprayable emulsions in hot/hot processing, the company said.

The next product in the range, BlanovaMuls Eco 77, has been developed specifically for ‘rich and caring’ product formulations, and the third, BlanovaMuls Eco 2277 forms the basis for the emulsion concentrates Eco 2277-2C and the preservative-free Eco 2277-5C, which deliver flexibility in formulations, the company said.

Presenting Azelis Personal Care in Turkey

The event was also used to present Azelis Personal Care in Turkey, a region which the company has identified as one of several key growth markets.

“As well as a continued European development of the Personal Care division across Europe, Azelis is investing in relatively new, key growth markets such as Turkey and Central and Eastern Europe,” the spokesperson said.

“Working hand in hand with both customers and principals we aim to increase our presence in these markets by offering enhanced products and services, including supply chain optimization.”
