Demand for organic ingredients can be met but companies must plan ahead

The production of organic ingredients is able to meet demand, but in order to ensure a reliable supply finished products manufacturers have to plan ahead, according to S&D Aroma.

The company supplies and produces organic ingredients and at the recent in-cosmetics trade show in Paris, CosmeticsDesign.com USA met with managing director John Brebner to discuss the supply and demand of organic ingredients.

While the current demand can be answered by the supply chain, Brebner explained that companies have to plan ahead in order to be sure they will receive what they need.

By their very nature as agricultural products, organic ingredients cannot be produced instantaneously and the company usually ask its customers to agree to buy a certain quantity. This way, growers can plant accordingly, which helps to provide a reliable supply and ensures farmers are not left with surplus crops they cannot sell.
