KitoZyme launches vegetal chitosan ingredient

Belgium-based ingredients provider KytoZyme has launched a new vegetal-based version of its Chitosan ingredient, Kiosmetine-Cs, falling in line with demands for hypoallerginc requirements.

Traditionally Chitosan has been derived from shellfish, which in the past has led to some problems with allergic reaction after use, as shellfish is a common allergan.

The company says that the launch is based on patented technology that enables the production of a high-purity chitosan, which is derived from a renewable, non-GMO, vegetal source.

According to clinical trials conducted on the ingredient, it is suited as a conditioning and repairing agent in hair care products, a moisturiser in skin care products, as well as providing added functionality in make-up, oral care and deodorants.
