Gattefossé to distribute JRS cellulose derivatives

Ingredients maker and supplier Gattefossé has signed a distribution agreement with JRS to distribute its cellulose derivatives to the personal care industry.

The deal between the companies will mean that France-based Gattefossé will be the exclusive distributor for the product range, known as Vivapur , in all markets worldwide.

Cellulose derivatives are made from wood, with the JRS product range derived from natural products that are also from renewable sources, which is said to make it ideal for formulators who want to develop natural water phase gelling agents.

Vitapur makes the leap into cosmetics

Until now the Vitapur ingredients range has been used as a natural-based thickener and stabilizer in the food and pharmaceutical industries, so this agreement marks the first leap into the cosmetics field.

As a gelling agent the range is claimed to stabilize suspensions and emulsions for a range of personal care formulations, helping to simplify the process as well as increasing flexibility.

The range is also pH stable and can be used in hot and cold processing mediums, the latter meaning that it could help reduce the environmental impact of the manufacturing process.

Gattefossé launches organic grape extract

Earlier this week Gattefossé announced the launch of a new organic grape extract to its range of plant waters.

A pure extract from organic grapes, the ingredient can replace water which can help formulators increase the organic content of a product at relatively low cost, the company claims.

This can help a company attain organic certification as standards generally hold the percentage of organic ingredients in the final formulation as an important criterion.

The grape extract joins the organic orange and lemon extracts in the Original Extracts range, as well as the non-organic ingredients that include kiwi, lotus, bamboo and apple.
