DuPont’s Surlyn is popular option for opaque perfume caps

Gianfranco Ferré Profumi is the latest fragrance company to adopt DuPont’s Surlyn, using it to create the perfume cap of its ‘In the Mood for Love’ fragrance.

Surlyn’s low density requires less use of material and its natural shine meant no additional coating was used for the Gianfranco fragrance, making it cost-effective, according to DuPont.

The first opaque fragrance cap using Surlyn was produced for Calvin Klein’s Obsession fragrance, and Balenciaga and Lancôme have also adopted the material.

Benefits of the polymer include design freedom, glass-like clarity and ease of production, according to DuPont, and it can also be used in lipsticks, cream jars, and bottles.
