In order to work more closely with local businesses, Dow Corning, a developer and manufacturer of silicon-based materials, has opened a new commercial office in Warsaw, Poland.

The cosmetics and personal care market is just one of several industries the commercial office will serve through its team of sales professionals and experts in silicone technologies.

The expansion of Dow Corning’s Central and Eastern European operations reflects the opportunities in this region for silicon-based materials and technologies, according to the company.

Poland is attractive market

Karen Heenan-Davies, external communications manager at Dow Corning told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com that Poland is a market with a lot of potential.

The number of people that live in Poland makes it attractive as a market, and it has weathered the recession extremely well. There is a real entrepreneurial spirit amongst local companies, something which the Polish government is very keen to support, which is setting the country up for economic growth in the future,” she added

Although Dow Corning has been supporting the Polish market through distribution since the 1970’s, according to Heenan-Davies the time is now right to establish a physical presence.

The office will also be used to support the broader Central and Eastern European regions as well as Poland, according to the company, forming a network with existing offices in Moscow and Istanbul.

Serving Polish market through two Dow Corning brands

The Polish market will benefit from products sold through both the Dow Corning brand, which offers specialty materials, and Xiameter, a web-based brand that offers standard products that include a lot of the company’s basic formulations.

Heenan-Davies said that the company is using these two brands in Poland as they have each have distinct benefits, both of which are important to the Polish market.

“Xiameter provides companies with efficiencies,” she explained. “They can order online whenever they want, and don’t have to wait for a sales office to open. The Dow Corning brand has a more of a personal interaction, and it is this brand that will deliver innovation,” she added.

Dow Corning is also looking to establish collaborative partnerships in the region, with customers and organizations that are focused on innovation to make products and processes more sustainable, the company said.
