SI Barcelona will service the Spanish and Portuguese cosmetics, fragrance and personal care markets of Spain and Portugal, and be headed by Jordi Calduch, the former General Manager of a large Spanish packaging producer.
The move comes after Calduch approached Sampling Innovations after spotting a gap in the market. He said in a statement that the type of service and approach that Sampling Innovations employs is very different to what currently exists in the Spanish marketplace.
Speaking about the decision to expand the company, Managing Director of Sampling Innovations, Keith Lockyer, told CosmeticsDesign that the Spanish and Portuguese markets, together with Calduch’s experience within the packaging industry, represent a significant opportunity to develop additional sales.
“It’s a market with huge potential and once Jordi had approached us to develop this opportunity of franchising our business with him, it was something of immediate interest for us. His extensive market knowledge and contacts in Spain and Portugal meant it made complete sense for us to develop this new company with him,” he said.
SI Barcelona will initially work with existing global supply partners to service the Spanish and Portuguese markets.
Describing his vision for the company, Calduch said in a statement: “The main value I want to bring to Spanish and Portuguese companies is to go further than just an industrial service, to be totally involved in the strategic development of our customers’ sampling strategy.”
Lockyer said that the possibility of establishing similar partnerships, both in European and International markets, would be explored if the venture proved to be successful.
Sampling Innovations has previously provided sampling solutions for Boots’ No7 Skincare and TRESemmé hair care products.
