Cosmoprof Asia continues to grow

Cosmoprof Asia 2009, the beauty industry tradeshow for the Asia-Pacific region, witnessed an increase in the number of exhibitors and visitors in comparison to last year’s figures.

The three-day event was held in Hong Kong on November 11-13, and attracted more than 41,000 visitors (up 4 per cent on 2008), according to the show’s organizers.

The show also saw an 8 per cent increase in overseas visitors, particularly those from Europe, the Middle East and North America, which highlights the strong international profile of the event.

The organizers said in a statement that the excellent exhibitor and visitor response to the event confirmed the importance of the show, particularly in the current uncertain market conditions.

As well as industry leaders such as Axilone and DuPont, the 1,412 exhibitors (a 3.5 per cent increase) included many new brands seeking to grow their presence in the Asia-Pacific market.

Commenting on the event, Jacques Cohen, CEO of US-based Prestige Cosmetics said: “If you want to seize the Asian market, you have to be here in Cosmoprof Asia.”

Several educational and networking events were offered in addition to the exhibition, including round-table discussions between industry leaders and seminars on emerging markets.

International Buyers Program

Cosmoprof Asia also continued its commitment to its International Buyers Program. Launched in 2007, the programme aims to provide buyers and sellers from around the world with the resources, contacts and data to create business.

Companies showcasing their products at the event were offered the opportunity to meet with selected key buyers from various locations. This year, more than 100 pre-arranged business meetings took place between exhibitors and the hosted buyers, according to the organizers.

The next edition of Cosmoprof Asia is scheduled to be held from 10 to 12 November 2010 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
