Helix BioMedix publishes clinical trials for new peptide ingredient

The studies were carried out on three different products within the Striking Skin Care range – a serum, an eye cream and a moisturizer – which all contained the SmartPeptides technology, which also includes its newly developed Heptapeptide-7.

Ultimately the company says the clinical trials showed that all three products had the effect of improving skin texture and appearance, as well as reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Trials conducting over eight weeks​

The studies were conducting by Essex Testing Clinic, New Jersey, over an 8 week period, and were evaluated over an eight hour, as well as two-, four- and eight-week time-frame.

The evaluations considered both physician and patient assessments, while more sophisticated analysis of skin hydration, topography and texture was taken using electronic measuring devices.

The study for the serum took into account 32 individuals with an average age of 54 and showed that there was a statistical improvement in forehead lines in 74 percent of subjects, while 67 percent showed improvements in skin texture.

Eye cream improved skin texture in every subject​

The eye cream study used 30 subjects with an average age of 52 and showed that skin hydration improved in 97 percent of subjects, while 100 percent showed statistical signs of skin texture improvement and 83 percent showed signs of improved moisturization.

In the study for the skin moisturizer product, which used 30 subjects with an average age of 51, 87 percent showed a statistical improvement in skin hydration, while 87 percent also showed a statistical improvement in skin texture.

The company says that it is about to publish the results of the studies in peer-reviewed journals, as well as presenting them at future dermatology conferences.
