Organic Monitor hosts first ever organic and natural masterclass

Organic Monitor is hosting its first ever Natural Cosmetics Masterclass in Southern Europe, aimed at critically reviewing certification standards and business processes.

Although high growth rates mean big opportunities in this sector, the fact that the industry is still relatively young means hurdles still exist when marketing such products and navigating the all-important area of certification.

With Organic Monitor estimating the market to still be growing at $1 billion a year, despite the global economic downturn, opportunities remain plentiful but staying on top of key developments within the category is crucial to make any campaign successful.

Workshops tackle key issues for all players

The event will take place in Bologna, Italy on September 12th and will include a series of workshops that will tackle all the key issues facing both suppliers and finished goods providers in significant detail.

The masterclass will take place in conjunction with the Sana 2009 event, an international expo for natural products and will take the form of two separate workshops, one on standards and formulation, the other on growth opportunities.

The programme will kick off with a workshop entitled Natural & Organic Cosmetic Standard & Formulation Issues, which will look at the myriad of bodies and different certifications that exist in this area.

Comparative assessment of major standards

More specifically the workshop will make a comparative assessment of each of the different major standards currently available, from both a European, North American and global perspective.

The workshop will also review formulation, ingredient and technical issues involved with complying with each and any of these standards, as well as highlighting the challenges and solutions that compliance throws up.

The second workshop is entitled Growth Opportunities in the Global Natural Cosmetics Market, which will showcase some of the trends driving the category in the big markets, both by region and individual countries.

Growth opportunities

Specific topics will include product and ingredient trends, market drivers and restraints, retailing issues and consumer trends.

As well as painting a detailed landscape for this category, the workshop will also touch on projections by emphasizing business openings for both existing players and new entrants.

The masterclass has 50 available seats and any interested parties should contact Organic Monitor directly.
