Although açai berry undisputedly has very high levels of antioxidants, the scientists questioned in the report whether the hype justified the outcome and by what means those properties could be translated into skin care.
In the article, Susan Talcott, assistant professor of toxicology at the Texas A&M University, stated that "the hype seems to exceed the antioxidant benefits."
Meanwhile Richard Pinnell, a professor of dermatology at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, stated in the article that he was not convinced that the active ingredients in the açai would be able to penetrate the inner layers of the skin.
