DSM presents new 24 hour skin care line up

DSM Nutritional Products will unveil its new 24 hour skin care protection range at the forthcoming in-cosmetics show, in Munich, Germany.

The range is part of an extended skin care portfolio which is the result of the company’s merger with cosmeceuticals specialist Pentapharm in July 2007, representing the first time it has been publicly demonstrated to the industry.

On stand G100, Hall 2, the company will demonstrate a range of skin care ingredients that represent day-time, night-time and sun care solutions which tap into innovative and science-driven technologies.

Day time solutions include Pepha –Ctive, which has been developed to maintain the skin’s energy metabolism, while its Folic Acid ingredient offers the ability to prevent DNA damage, Stay –C 50 has been developed to stimulate collagen production and Regu –Age has been developed signs of ageing around the eye area.

Sun care ingredients for a range of products

Turning to sun care, the company will be showcasing its Parsol range of UVA and UVB filters, which provide sun protection for all kinds of sun care, anti-aging and moisturising skin care products.

The company is also offering a comprehensive range of versatile peptide-based ingredients aimed at providing night-time skin care solutions to repair and regenerate the skin.

These night-time products include Syn –Ake, which has been developed to help tackle expression lines, Syn –Coll, a collagen boosting ingredient, and Syn –Taks, which can be used to for what the company terms ‘the re-organisation of the Dermal-Epidermal Junction'.

Expanding into targeted skin care ingredietns

Until the Pentapharm acquisition DSM had specialised in nutritional and pharma ingredients, as well as performance materials and industrial chemicals, mainly focusing on the food industry.

In more recent years it has been moving into the cosmetics field with the development of ingredients aimed at a range of personal care products including sun care, hairsprays, soaps, creams and shampoos.

Its merger with Pentapharm significantly increased its presence in this category, giving it more specialisation in technically and scientifically advanced ingredients that are used in cosmeceutical and premium skin care products.

Until the point of its merger, Switzerland-based Pentapharm had received industry recognition for its innovation capabilities, primarily focused on self-tanning, body slimming and whitening products, and in more recent years had been building its portfolio of skin care ingredients.
