The manufacturer of pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging posted sales of €237.3m for the three months from December to February. This is a slight drop on the turnover of €239.1m reported in the same period last year.
Operating profit fell more sharply from €43m last year to €38.3 this time round as the company adjusted to the new economy.
Remaining on target
Despite that adjustment, Gerresheimer said the company was confident that its healthy growth targets for the year remain in sight.
“We still assume that we will achieve sales growth of 6 per cent to 7 per cent in the financial year 2009 with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 19 to 19.2 per cent in our core business,” said CEO Dr Axel Herberg.
Gerresheimer expects this growth to come mainly from its core pharma and life science business.
Presence at Cosmopack
The company is also targeting the cosmetics and perfume market and is presenting some of its latest products at the Cosmopack exhibition in Bologna this week.
The company will be presenting its latest plastic range at the show including a variety of shapes, colours, and high-effect printing and dosage systems.
Also on display at Cosmopack will be new rectangular glass bottles that the company has developed for P&G’s Mexx brand and two bottles created for Lancôme’s Hydra Zen and Absolue Nuit.
