The company, which is set to be acquired by BASF for €3.8bn, is concentrating on colors and stabilisers at the cosmetics trade show in Munich on April 21-23.
Colours come into focus
New colours and effects for hair dyes and cosmetic grade pigments will be on display. Ciba is launching four new anionic hair dyes designed for semi permanent and temporary applications like refreshing shampoos, tinting creams and gels.
The company said these dyes provide “very brilliant and strong” shades that can go to the fluorescent end of the spectrum.
Carrying on the colour theme, Ciba is extending its Calisha colour collection of cosmetic grade pigments to include six high chroma, high sparkle and effect pigments.
Each of the pigments, which are available in water and oil dispersible grades, adds very bright, noticeable colour to personal care products, added Ciba.
To complement these additions to its colour catalogue, Ciba has launched an online library containing over seventy soap shades and recipes allowing formulators to pick or develop a recipe for their desired shades. A new shade card on “Esthetic Aspects of Bar Soaps” is also available.
New stabilisers for cosmetics
To protect colours in formulations Ciba is also expanding its range of stabilisers. The Tinograd LO1 is a new antioxidant based on lactone chemistry the company has developed to protect against thermo-oxidative degradation.
Ciba has also expanded its range of stabilisers with the new Tinogard QS Excited State Quencher which protects formulations from light induced degradation. Ciba said the powder is more compatible with oil-based formulation than the existing liquid version.
