The new Dermorganics range will be released at April’s in-cosmetics in Munich and will include oils, emulsifiers, stabilisers, moisturisers and other functional ingredients all from organically grown plants.
In addition, the Germany-based company is releasing an emulsifier from ingredients of natural origin, and two oil components.
Emulsifier with preserving qualities
Symbiomuls GC is an easy to use emulsifier designed to give an elegant skin feel made from Ecocert listed materials.
The ingredient also has basic preserving qualities, according to the company. This does not cut out the need for preservatives but may help manufacturers use less in their formulations, explained Dr Jan Jänichen from the company.
“Some of the components of the Symbiomuls GC may boost the efficacy of a preserving system, reducing its necessary concentration for an efficient preservation,” he told CosmeticsDesign.
The new addition to the oil product range is Dermofeel Sensolv which the company claims is a highly spreadable oil with a light, non greasy skin feel.
Colour cosmetics and sun care
Dr Straetmans is advertising the new oil as a solvent for use in colour cosmetics and sun care products and claims it is a natural alternative to the company’s Dermofeel BGC, a popular choice for formulators looking for cost efficient and effective ingredients for sun care products.
With these new releases the company is strengthening its position in the naturals market.
At In-cosmetics last year it launched a natural fungicidal ingredient that it claimed helps formulate products with more complete protection against microbial contamination.
Summer 2008 also saw the release of a combined hair and skin conditioner called symbioquat, a combination of two natural polysaccharides.
