The pump, which hit the market just over a year ago, was designed to fit around two important criteria – that it can be recycled and that it can be combined with an airless pump action.
The fact that it is recyclable fits in with the growing trend to provide entire packaging concepts that can be easily recycled, as well as the trend for airless pumps, which provide quick, easy, mess-free, and – most importantly – hygienic dispensing.
Up-market choice
Rexam claims that in recent months a number of up-market personal care providers have started to include the pump into the packaging for their personal care ranges, including Bottega Verde’s Uomo Energy Power anti-wrinkle formulation.
The design of the Bottega Verde packaging has been customized with a matching electric blue actuator and tank to emphasise the pump and its action.
Likewise, another recent addition to the Prodigio portfolio has included Kelmata’s Victor anti fatigue cold cream, which was launched in Europe with a black actuator and green-labelled tank.
Highlighting innovation
“Two recent launches of European prestige brands demonstrates the appeal of our innovative beauty packaging, which builds brands,” said Virginia Lemeunier, product manager for Rexam Personal Care.
A highlight of the pump's design is the air-proof CleanPoint&trade technology, which features a mechanically-closed actuator, which keeps the lotion’s dispensing clean and prevents build-up on the nozzle, Rexam claims.
Lemunier also points out that the pump is “designed with a large decoration area, for optimal point-of-sale impact and profitability.”
