GeneLink expands genetic testing capabilities

Florida-based Genelink has entered into a collaborative service agreement to increase its research and development capabilities for DNA-based beauty care treatments.

The agreement will expand its testing capabilities with a ‘nationally recognized’ diagnostic laboratory which will focus on the further development of the company’s SNP-based (single nucleotide polymorphism) assessments for its DNA-based solutions.

The agreement builds on the launch this summer of GeneWize Life Sciences, which, according to GeneLink executive chairman Bernard Kasten, has been ‘highly successful’.

Agreement builds on growth

Kasten says the service agreement will help to build on future growth for the division by building on the CLIA certified and American Pathologist accredited facilities that now fall under the company’s fold.

GeneLink claims that GeneWize is the first direct selling industry company to focus on supplements and skin care products that have been specifically tailored to an individual’s genetic make-up.

Testing capabilities are paramount for the business because it provides tailor-made beauty and health solutions based on DNA samples from individual clients.

DNA samples are the key

The idea is that by taking the DNA samples and testing them, the company can devise skin care programs that are tailored around the individuals specific needs, the theory being that the tests can throw light on what individual's nutritional and personal care needs.

What the company calls Healthy Aging Assessments means a personalized nutritional and skin care regime that is developed using over 177,000 possible ingredient combinations that work both externally and internally for optimum results.

The company says that on the back of this latest service agreement it is now looking to launch the LifeMap Skin Care customized product during the course of 2009 in North America, to be followed by an international launch.
