Ileos already operates in the field of samples and unit doses through its Socoplan division which develops products for colour cosmetics and fragrance.
Now Socoplan will be extending its product range by purchasing Biopack. The bought-out company has developed a number of innovative products such as shaped cards, envelopes, card holders, folding cards, paper twists and mini roll-on bottles, claimed Ileos.
The forging of Socoplan and Biopack will create a combined structure that will generate a consolidated turnover of €73m.
Ileos said: “Customers will be able to benefit from the largest and most creative range of products in the market, covering monodoses, samples and full services for fragrances and cosmetics.
“Because of its international presence, the group can offer complete solutions taking into consideration the specificity of each client.”
After the acquisition, Maxime D’Haussy, who was sales and marketing director Europe for Socoplan, will take over as chief operating officer at Biopack. Meanwhile Stephane Fremiot, previously sales director at Biopack, will take D’Haussy’s old job.
The founders of Biopack, Bernard and Eric Simon, who were President and General Manager respectively, will work with the new management team until the end of 2009 to help integrate the companies.
Ileos did not disclose the financial terms of the deal but revealed that Biopack achieved a turnover figure of €18m for 2007/2008.
Socoplan has a turnover of €55m and is one of Ileos’ four divisions that together generated sales figures of €260m in 2007.
