Cosmetic chemists gather in UK for SCS Formulate

The British Society of Cosmetic Chemists will be unveiling this year’s SCS Formulate Creating Cosmetics exhibition in Telford, UK, next week.

SCS Formulate runs November 18 and 19 and promises to provide cosmetic formulators with seminars and advice on creating cosmetics as well as technical presentations and an exhibition space with over 140 companies.

Follow fast-moving market

The British Society of Cosmetic Chemists, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, devised the event to help formulators keep up to date with the latest market developments.

Highlights of this year’s seminar programme include Mintel analyst Sumi Nair’s presentation on the global beauty trends driving innovation with a specific on consumer attitudes regarding natural and high science products.

Wednesday’s session will feature Keith Ball form the Soil Association Certification who will take participants through the UK body’s certification system in the context of the international regulatory environment.

Keep up with regulatory changes

In addition, Dr Emma Meredith from the Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery Association will outline the recent changes to the European Cosmetics Directive.

The Directive is currently undergoing significant changes that involve it becoming regulation and therefore law in each member state. Dr Meredith will concentrate on what the major proposed changes will mean for the industry and the projected timelines for their implementation.

The TechFocus programme includes presentations on the latest ingredients from many of the top beauty players including Croda, Eckart, Symrise and Jan Dekkar International.

In addition, the exhibition hall at the Telford International Centre will feature stands from over 140 companies displaying the latest products and technologies.
