IFRA workshop tackles problem of fragrance allergies

European Fragrance association IFRA is holding a one day workshop that will tackle specific problems relating to fragrance allergies.

Held in Brussels, at the Stanhope Hotel on November 4, the event will be divided into two sessions that will include presentations by four key experts in the field, backed up by a chaired panel debate.

The first session will kick off with a presentation by Professor Axel Schnuch, from the University of Goettengen, who will be speaking about the surveillance of allergies to fragrance through clinical work.

Epidemiological study feedback

The second presentation in this session will be given by Professor Thoman Diepgnen, from the University of Heidelberg, who will be giving key feedback regarding the EDEN Epidemiological study

The second session will start off with a presentation from Annette Orloff from the European Commission’s bureau of Cosmetics and Medical Devices, who will give an outline of the EU’s approach to the regulation of allergies and fragrances

The final presentation from Dr. Barbara Hall of Sureconsult will discuss the industry’s self regulatory approach to the IFRA standards, as well as differing requirements around the world.

Chaired panel debat

The programme will be wrapped up by a chaired panel debate, hosted by Dr. David Basketter, an expert in the field of toxicology, who will be encouraging discussion about how fragrance allergy should be regulated.

IFRA says that the programme has been tailored to the needs of the legislators, regulators, toxicolgists, epidemiologists and any other individuals who are directly concerned with the development, manufacturing and marketing of fragrance products.
