UK contract manufacturer eyes international expansion

Swallowfield has unveiled its new Paris operation, which it says forms part of its plan to expand beyond the domestic UK market and into the international arena.

Headquartered in Wellington, Southwest England, the firm says that the new Paris-based sales office has been opened in an effort to grow new business, as well as a means of servicing existing clients throughout Europe.

Paris is already home to some of the biggest names in the global personal care industry, including the world’s biggest player L’Oreal, together with other key players such as Chanel, Christian Dior and Yves St. Laurent.

Cosmetics Valley beckon

The offices have also been strategically placed on the edge of Cosmetics Valley, an area to the Southwest of Paris that stretches to six counties and includes all the biggest players in the French personal care field.

“We believe there are major opportunities for Swallowfield in Europe,” said company chief executive Ian Mackinnon.

“Whilst strengthening our international presence, the new operation in Paris will help us further enhance our service to customers by making them more aware of our range of solutions and it will be critical in helping us achieve growth overseas.”

Czech manufacturing facility

In recent years the company has been working towards increasing its international footprint, having opened a new production facility in the Czech Republic at the beginning of this year that fills and finishes cosmetic and toiletry products.

On top of that it has also recently signed a joint venture with Jahwa, IE, one of China’s leading players in the personal care sector, and Kasho, a Japanese investment company.

The joint venture opens up exclusive access to European markets for products that are manufactured under the agreement between the three partners.
