The shopping channel will be launched on Sky digital and the company claims it will be the first television channel in the UK dedicated to beauty programming.
The channel has a four hour long program that will run on a loop, showcasing brands such as Liz Earle, Decleor and Elemis, according to the company.
Themed shows such as ‘In the Salon with Alison’ will also run on the new channel.
Viewers can purchase items they desire at the click of a button on their Sky remote control, according to the QVC, which also states out of stock products will be removed from the programming in real time.
In order to offer this service, QVC developed a broadcast planning, asset management and transmission system in partnership with Ensequence, PubliTronic and Isilon.
Interactive television company Ensequence redesigned QVC’s services allowing consumers to navigate between four video channels and purchase products on each, all with their Sky remote control.
“Ensequence software and services have provided us with the capability to enhance and develop our own on-air interactive applications,” said Paul Murphy, Head of Media Technology at QVC.
Furthermore, the planning and storage system automatically allows the company to only play videos that showcase in-stock products, using an Isilon storage cluster.
“Combined with Isilon’s iQ storage provided by Pharos, we now have a robust and flexible way of allowing our customers to make considered purchases of beauty products from the wealth of broadcast-quality videos that we have available,” he added.
