Silab showcases new organic ingredients line
Three ingredients, Osilift, Structurine and Vitanol, gained organic Ecocert certification enabling the company to tap into this growing market trend.
Oats for a smooth complexion
Osilift Bio is derived from a sugar found in organically farmed oats and designed to help promote toned and smoother skin.
According to the company, the network of complex sugars adheres to the surface of the skin, forming a continuous lifting film.
Structurine helps strengthen skin barrier
The second of Silab’s organic portfolio is Structurine Bio, an ingredient designed to help restore the barrier function of the skin.
Due to the ingredient’s high levels of oligosaccharides and glutaminated peptides, Structurine Bio improves the synthesis of structural proteins and epidermal lipids.
The company claims the ingredient helps to strengthen the stratum corneum and therefore helps to limit water loss.
Structurine therefore is perfect for repairing, regenerating and hydrating products, according to the company.
Alfalfa for anti-aging
Vitanol Bio is the third of the company’s organic portfolio and has a similar effect on the skin as retinol, although it avoids the instability and safety issues often associated with the ingredient.
It is derived from organically farmed alfalfa and is rich in galactomannans, which according to the company help to preserve the extra cellular matrix.
By inhibiting the activity of metalloproteinases responsible for the destruction of collagen I, and stimulating its synthesis, the ingredient can protect and repair the dermis, the company claims.
For this reason Silab recommends the ingredient for all types of anti-aging formulations and treatment.
This new organic portfolio is in line with Silab's mission to create active ingredients that are gentle on the body and complement the skin's own natural function, a company spokesperson told CosmeticsDesign.com.
