Cognis focuses on green and beauty food trends

Cognis will draw manufacturers' attention to its green and beauty food ingredients at upcoming trade shows and unveil its latest innovations.

At In-Cosmetics in Amsterdam next month the Germany-based ingredients supplier will be focusing on the green trend with several launches that combine environmental soundness and natural sourcing.

Green ingredients take centre stage Among the green ingredients to be released at the trade show will be a mild surfactant for oral care applications, a pearlizing agent for hair and body care and an active ingredient for hair removal products made from gymnemic acid.

Complementing the launches will be a presentation by Cognis' marketing manager Iris Hutter at the show's Cosmetic Science Conference on the challenges of developing green ingredients for different market segments.

Besides its green launches Cognis will also roll-out a range of high-performance conventional ingredients including a liquid acrylic emulsion polymer, a texture agent for sun care applications and a delivery system with microcapsules, nanocapsules and visual beads.

Beauty from within at Vitafoods Meanwhile at Vitafoods in Geneva in May Cognis will be paying particular attention to the beauty from within trend.

The ingredients manufacturer will present formulations that protect the skin from UV radiation, which it claims is responsible for up to 90 per cent of the visible signs of ageing.

Cognis will be demonstrating its formulations with samples of a drink packed with its sun protecting ingredients including Betatene carotenoids, Xangold lutien ester and Covitol Vitamin E. "We have chosen to present a product opportunity for the dynamic diary products sector with our drink, but these concepts can be applied to other foods and beverages and, of course, to food supplements," said Cognis spokesperson Albert Strube.
