Sunless tanner taps into new dispensing technology

Texas-based Mystic Tan says it has enhanced the delivery of its sunless tanning product with the incorporation of MyMyst System, a dispenser that relies on single-use cartridges to provide a more even spray coverage.

The system aims at providing salons, spas, resorts and hotels with facilities to spray consumers with sunless tan products provided by the company, tapping into the fast-growing trend for safer tanning that is currently sweeping North America.

According to the company, the dispensing system combines the MagneTan technology, which uses the body's own magnetic properties to evenly attract micro-myst particles to every exposed surface of the skin, and the MyMyst System, which uses personal-size mini cartridges designed for one-time use.

The company says that the dispensing system allows for an all-over tan that avoids the undesirable orange streaking effect often associated with products that have to be spread on to the body by hand.

The dispensing system is further enhanced by the fact that it offers two varieties of sunless tanner with the package, NutraMist and NutraMist Plus.

The latter offers a slightly darker shade of tan than the first.

Likewise, the consumer can also choose between different spraying effects.

ClearMyst offers a time-released formula that develops a more natural-lookng tan, while BronzMyst offers the same attributes but also includes Insta-Color Bronzer, a water-soluble brown-tinted dye that washes off without affecting the skin's tone.

The company's founder, Troy Cooper, says that after listening to what consumers want from a sunless tanner, the company has developed a system that is more flexible and takes into account people's different lifestyles.

Simply put, he says that this gives individuals looking for a sunless tan, "more options."

The overall concept means that before the customer receives the treatment, they get to choose what type of tan they wish to achieve by choosing the tone, the finish and the amount of product that they use.

After this, the individual disrobes, wears a hat to protect the hair and blocking cream for the hands and feet, then steps inside the booth to receive voiced instructions during the 90-second spray session.

Recently a US company, Sunscreen Mist launched its sun care vending-based dispensing systems in Europe, aimed at providing comprehensive protection for Europeans this summer.

Created and first distributed in the US, where it has proved popular in high-end resorts, the technology is being brought to Europe by UK-based distributor Spraynlay.

The company says that it has obtained exclusive distribution rights that will see the technology appearing in resorts, hotels, luxury apartments, waterparks and campsites in Spain, France, Greece and Monaco this summer.

"The strong demand for Sunscreen Mist's products in the United States will certainly translate well to the unbelievably wide range of hotels, and other outdoor venues in Europe ," said Jordan Lichman, the US-based president of Sunscreen Mist.

The company claims that the technology replaces the cans, tubes and 'missed spots' associated with the applying sunscreen and other sun care products.
