On the back of colour cosmetic queen Bobbi Brown's tip that the make-up colour for the Autumn season will, once again, feature golden hews, Merck says that it has developed an intensely metallic gold pigment for the Colorana Precious range with an 'excellent coverage' and 'clean gold effect'.
The pigment has been developed using a multi-layer technology in which numerous layers of metal oxides are deposited onto a mica substrate. The company claims that this process results in a dazzling gold colour intensity displaying exceptional bright gloss.
Because of the concentration it is said that the pigment can be used for a variety of colour cosmetics applications, including nail enamel, eyeshadow and lip-care products.
Likewise, it can also be used in personal care products, including sunless tanning products, body lotions and face creams, to give skin a shimmering tone.
The Colorana range supplied by S Blanck already has nearly 40 other shades, including a number of other gold shades, together with Tibetan ochre, Patina Silver, Copper Sparkle and Glitter Bordeaux.
The new colour will be made available in both the UK, where it will be supplied by S Black UK, and in Germany, where it will be supplied by S Black GmbH. The company is currently one of the leading suppliers of pigments to the European personal care industry.
Earlier this year Germany based Merck made predictions for colour cosmetic product ranges available in the main markets it supplies for 2007, stating that bold colours as well as metallic shades would definitely be big.
In response to this prediction, the company developed its Soleman concept, which led the company to develop make-up displays with what it termed 'velvety, satiny or silky textures with golds, grey metallic shades and pearly shimmering effects'.
