According to event organisers Reed Exhibitions, the event has grown by 50 per cent compared to the last time it was held in Spain back in 2000. Now representing an exhibition floor space of 6,400 square metres, this also shows a 24 per cent increase on its size when it was held in Berlin last year.
Fuelling this growth is a total of 354 companies that have signed up to exhibit at this year's show, 40 of which are taking part for the first time.
The growth is also being backed up by a number of new innovations, which is being highlighted by the launch of 'in-focus', a feature that aims to provide a platform for the latest creative and strategic inisights from the beauty industry.
"Each year, in-focus will bring together the best marketing and scientific experts on a specific theme, to give visitors the condensed knowledge and expertise to drive product development in the right direction," a spokesperson said.
The in-focus will feature a dedicated area to showcase new ingredients, technologies and application concepts, backed up by a conference programme that will feature a selection of industry of specialists.
The first in-focus will highlight the increasing importance of Brazil's Amazon region to the industry, showcasing a selection of the natural resources that are currently available to the industry from this resource-rich region.
This will incorporate the range of active ingredients that are derived from the natural plant-life of the region, which is said to be supported by a research and development programme that stresses sustainability.
Featuring key names involved in the Brazilian cosmetics industry such as Beraca, Solabia and Croda, the free conference programme will feature presentations that throw more light on a range of issues, including sustainability, the development of new substances and the scientific screening of plants for cosmetic applications.
Still on the subject of conferences, another new feature for this year's event will be a 1-day 'Cosmetics Science Conference', held on 5 April. It will offer detailed information about regulatory issues relating to animal testing and REACH, together with innovations in delivery systems and sensory aspects of personal care product development for a €150 fee.
Competition in the European Beauty exhibitions market has been getting increasingly tough in recent years, something that was highlighted by the fact that three shows were all due to be opened back-to-back in Europe this spring.
Last October that competition resulted in the cancellation of the Personal Care Ingredients Europe show, which was due to take place in Paris in March.
PCIE had been battling it out with the growing In-Cosmetics show over the past few years. This means that In-Cosmetics is now only facing up to competition from the Cosmoprof show, due to take place in Bologna, Italy, 7-10 April.
Obviously with one of those shows out of the way, some of the heat is off, but still the In-Cosmetics and Cosmoprof shows will be battling out for companies to exhibit and the right professionals to attend.
