Cryztal Concept aims to forge new packaging niche

New beauty packaging player Cryztal Concept has been set up in the UK to address the growing demands of cosmetics players for A to Z solutions that meet the growing demands for increasingly sophisticated and visually eye-catching solutions, writes Simon Pitman.

Headed by former packaging executive Stephen Hassid and based in London, the company has been up and running for the last few months and will be tapping into the global resources of packaging manufacturers and suppliers.

Hassid has spent five years specialising in areas such as injection moulding for beauty packaging solutions and has also built up industry-leading knowledge in the field of pumps and caps.

Hassid told CosmeticsDesign.com: "All of the manufacturing will be sub-contracted out on a global basis. This means that there is greater flexibility over quality, design, price, and the markets that are served.

"The premise is to respond to customer's needs, which are likely to be diverse and come from a variety of different regions."

Hassid says that he is personally over-seeing quality as well as compliance with ISO stipulations - issues that have become primary driving forces behind the sector in recent years.

Although Hassid says he has a preference for high-end cosmetics players such as Dior, he says that mass market players such as L'Oreal will also be likely targets.

"In the mass market best quality at better prices are the priorities," Hassid said. "There are always ways and means of achieving this and I would very much like to take this kind of challenge on."

On a geographical basis, Hassid said that he will be targeting the European market at the beginning, with France, Germany and the UK forming the basis of his focus. However, as the company evolves, it is likely that the US market will be the first step towards further expansion.
