Pearl proteins for ageing skin

Juvena of Switzerland has introduced a new line of products to help nourish the skin of maturing women. The new personal care range has been formulated with the protein extracts of real pearls.

"Pearl protein has an amino acid composition that is equivalent to that lost by our skin over time. Therefore the Juvelia products refill the empty amino acid reservoirs of the skin," said a Juvena spokesperson.

Juvelia is one of the two new lines to be launched by Juvena to commemorate its 50th anniversary as a luxury skincare company.

The new line includes a day cream with crystal lipids and pearly pigments, an eye cream plus - claimed to calm stressed skin and reduce puffiness - and Firming Elixir, which uses Soysterols, Wild Yam root and Vitamin E.

Juvena has been working in the skincare sector since the 1950's when it was the first company to develop a lightweight cream. Since then, it has been the first to use sunscreen, Vitamin E and Co-enzyme Q10 in its products.

The company has also introduced Pomegranate - voted the ingredient of 2003 by Mintel - into its new luxury body line. The exotic fruit is known for its moisturizing and soothing properties as well as for its skin firming and tightening effect.

The new Firming Performance body contouring and refining cream, is claimed to use barley, mushroom, caffeine and pomegranate extracts to reduce cellulite by 39 per cent.

"Juvena's Firming Performance's utilization of slimmigen increases micro-circulation and supports the reduction of fatty tissue, thus reducing the features of cellulite by 39 per cent, orange peel skin by 24 per cent, and fatty tissue by seven per cent," said brand manager for Juvena Nadia Yousif.

Juvena - a Swiss manufacturer of skincare products - was founded in 1954 by the Divapharma pharmaceutical laboratory in Zurich.
